Dale City Gets New Accessible Concrete Pathway and More Thanks to Heavy Construction Contractors Association

Many new improvements were recently made to the outside of Sharron Baucom Dale City Recreation Center thanks to in-kind work completed by the Heavy Construction Contractors Association as part of their annual "Community Service Project."

The project focused on creating a new accessible concrete pathway from the parking lot to the main ballfield, improvements to the bleacher and bench viewing area, and improvements and regrading of the parking lot.

“These upgrades will be a game changer for these fields and the parks at the bottom of the hill at the rec center,” said Debora Harvey, executive director of the Heavy Construction Contractors Association. “Our goal is to help the teams, the families and the individuals who use that area to better access and enjoy the outdoor recreation opportunities this community offers.”

The execution phase of the project occurred over a period of two weeks in mid-March, and was completed just in time for the opening of the baseball season. Time, services, materials and equipment were donated by over 25 of HCCA member companies.  The project itself was developed and executed by HCCA’s Leadership Institute Class of 2024.  These 12 up-and-coming leaders of HCCA’s member companies were fully engaged in designing the project, obtaining donations of services and materials, performing some of the work themselves and supervising each step of the project to ensure an on-time completion.
