Talking with Children About Safety from Sexual Abuse
The Prince William County Department of Social Services is offering a free, virtual Darkness to Light Stewards of Children training, “Talking with Children About Safety From Sexual Abuse" for parents and caregivers.
Having age-appropriate, open conversations about our bodies, sex and boundaries is an important step in protecting children from sexual abuse. Talking about personal safety and sex creates a protective bond between parent and child, increases confidence for both and instills knowledge that makes children and teens much less vulnerable.
Darkness to Light is a nonprofit organization whose mission is to empower adults to prevent, recognize, and react responsibly to child sexual abuse, so that more children have a chance to grow up happy and healthy.
