The Virginia Cooperative Extension—Prince William receives periodic grants from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development, or HUD, through Virginia Housing to help support its Financial Education and Housing Counseling Program.
The Prince William Board of County Supervisors recently accepted, budgeted and appropriated $25,000 in grant funding from HUD to support staff salary and benefits necessary to keep the education programs going through March 31, 2021.
The Cooperative Extension, which provides education and housing counseling services to the residents of Greater Prince William County, received a $48,000 grant earlier this year for Fiscal Year 2021. The additional $25,000 grant funding was awarded retroactively to also apply to Fiscal Year 2021.
The Cooperative Extension continues as a HUD-certified agency with HUD-certified volunteer and staff counselors.
