The Prince William Board of County Supervisors recently received a briefing from the Prince William County Department of Transportation on the status of Virginia Department of Transportation, Virginia Railway Express and OmniRide projects across the county.
The Burwell Road paving project, which will pave Burwell Road from already existing pavement to the Fauquier County line, is scheduled to begin in June.
The Discovery Boulevard Extension-Thomasson Barn Road Extension is scheduled to be completed by the end of this month.
The Innovation Pedestrian Improvements project, to build a sidewalk between Discovery Boulevard, Innovation Drive and University Boulevard, is in the rights-of-way acquisition phase with acquisitions ongoing. Construction is scheduled to begin in the fall of 2019 and is expected to be completed in the Spring of 2020.
The Route 28, Phase II construction project, between Fitzwater Drive and Vint Hill Road, is 80 percent complete and on schedule to be finished by the contract completion date of October 2019.
The Route 28, Phase III project to widen the Route 28, between Linton Hall Road and Pennsylvania Avenue, is scheduled for construction to begin late this summer. The project to build a trail from Route 28 to the Virginia Railway Express, or VRE, station is in Phase I of design. The entire project is scheduled to be completed in the spring of 2022.
The Vint Hill Road Extension project to build a turn lane on Vint Hill Road from Sudley Manor Drive to Glen Gerry Road is under construction with work set to be completed on schedule, in November 2019.
Intersection Improvements at Prince William Parkway and University Boulevard are in the preliminary design phase. A public meeting was held on May 20. Construction is set to begin in December 2020 with a completion date set for December 2022.
The University Boulevard Extension project to build a two-lane road from Edmonston Drive to Sudley Manor Drive is in the design phase which is scheduled to end in December 2019.
The Balls Ford Road Interchange project to build a diverging diamond interchange at Route 234 Bypass and Balls Ford Road is in the design phase with construction set to begin in January 2020. Construction is scheduled to be completed in December 2022.
The Balls Ford Widening project to widen the road between Doane Drive and Route 234 Business is in the design phase with construction set to end in November 2022.
The Dumfries Road Sidewalk Project construction advertisement is scheduled to begin in June 2019 with a construction completion date set for April 2020.
The Featherbed Lane Paving from existing pavement to General Trimbles Lane is scheduled for construction to begin in July 2019. Construction is scheduled to be completed In August 2019.
The Neabsco Mills Road project to widen the road from U.S. 1 to Dale Boulevard is under design phase which is scheduled to be completed in December 2019. Right-of-way acquisition authorization is scheduled to begin in the winter of 2020, with construction set to begin in March 2021. Construction is set to be completed in April 2023.
The Smoketown Road-Opitz Road Pedestrian Improvements project to rebuild ramps and crosswalk to comply with the Americans with Disabilities Act is scheduled to begin this summer. Completion is expected to be finished this fall.
The Old Bridge Road Sidewalk project to build a sidewalk on Old Bridge Road from the entrance to Tackett's Mill to Minnieville Road is under design with construction set to begin in November 2019. Construction is scheduled to be completed by the summer of 2020.
The Dumfries Road North Shared Use Path project to build a path between Country Club Drive and Exeter Drive is under construction and scheduled to be completed this July.
The Fuller Heights Road project to make improvements to the road at the entrance to the Quantico Marine Corps Base is under design. Construction is set to begin in February 2020 and end by November 2020.
The Inn Street project to build a connection between Inn Street and Joplin Road is scheduled to be under construction in July with a completion date set for November 2019.
The Annapolis Way project for roadway improvement is set to enter design phase in September as coordination with adjacent development continues. Construction dates are to be determined
The Blackburn Road Pedestrian Improvements project to build a multi-use trail from Route 1 to the newly constructed Neabsco Creek Boardwalk, across from Rippon Lodge was completed April 25.
The Rippon Landing Neighborhood Park Parking Lot project is scheduled to be completed with a trail extension scheduled for completion in June.
The Express Drive Sidewalk project to build a missing section of sidewalk at the Woodbridge Virginia Railway Express, or VRE, station is scheduled by the end of this spring.
The Horner Road Sidewalk project to build a sidewalk from Glen Road to Kilby Elementary School is set to begin this summer with a completion date set for this fall.
The Opitz Boulevard sidewalk project to build a sidewalk to Potomac Community Library to Potomac Center Boulevard is scheduled to begin in the spring of 2020 with construction set in the summer of 2020.
The Route 1-Featherston to Mary's Way project to widen Route 1 to six lanes is under construction with utility and water line relocations ongoing. Construction is scheduled to end in the fall of 2021.
The Southampton Street Sidewalk project to build a sidewalk and other improvements from Montgomery Avenue to Pine Lane is completed and awaiting the installation of streetlights
The Potomac-Neabsco Mills Commuter Garage project to build a 1,414-space parking garage is set to go into the design phase this spring with construction to follow and end in the fall of 2023.
The route 28 Corridor Feasibility Study-Environmental Assessment project is in place to complete a National Environmental Policy Act, or NEPA, process to determine the feasibility of obtaining permits for the bypass to ease congestion on Route 28. The process is scheduled to run from the winter of 2019 to the spring of 2021 depending on the type of NEPA process.
The 646 Aden Road Bridge is open to traffic.
The Sudley Manor Drive and Bethlehem Road study to look at access concerns on Sudley Manor Drive has been completed. Temporary flexible poles to restrict movements are in place. Monitoring for permanent measures are ongoing.
The Route 1596 Williamson Boulevard project to build a turn lane and install a traffic signal at Stonehouse Drive is set to begin, if done in-house, by the end of 2019.
The Route 28 at Fauquier Drive project to extend the right-turn lane on Route 28 and reconfigure the intersection is scheduled to begin this fall.
The Transform I-66 Outside the Beltway project to build express lanes on I-66 from I-495 to University Boulevard in Gainesville is underway with a completion date set for December 2022.
The Transform I-66 Outside the Beltway University Boulevard-Route 29 Park and ride Lot project is expected to be partially open with 960 spaces this summer.
The Route 1 Widening-Town of Dumfries is under design with discussions ongoing to determine how to fund the project. A construction date is to be determined.
The I-95 Auxiliary Lane project will extend improve the right entrance and exit lane between Route 123 and the Prince William Parkway to reduce traffic weaving.
