The Prince William Board of County Supervisors recently authorized a public hearing to endorse the design of the Summit School Road and Telegraph Road Improvement Project

The project involves realigning Summit School Road where it ends at Kinnicutt Drive, to a new alignment that will connect with Telegraph Road, about three quarters of a mile north of the Horner Road Park-and-Ride entrance. The project will also widen Telegraph Road between Caton Hill Road at the existing intersection of Prince William Parkway.

Full traffic signal replacement at the intersection of Prince William Parkway and Telegraph Road will improve traffic flow. The project will include four travel lanes, a five-foot sidewalk and a 10-foot shared-use path. It will also incorporate building a second left-turn lane on westbound Minnieville Road, which will only require modifications to an existing median on Minnieville Road. 

The project is funded by $11 million from the Northern Virginia Transportation Authority's (NVTA) Six Year Program and $45,108 in Prince William County proffer funds. NVTA has also recently programmed another $24 million to go toward the right-of-way/utility phase and construction phase of the project that becomes available in Fiscal Year 2024.
