Warrior Buddies Program

Prince William County Animal SHELTER

The Prince William Humane Society Warrior Buddies Program is designed to improve the morale and welfare of our veterans, and their families, by bringing the unconditional love and companionship in the form of adoptable Shelter pets. This program has two components to accomplish this goal.

Meet Sunny, who was adopted from our Shelter and is making a difference in a veteran's life!

The Wounded Heroes Free Adoption Program works with wounded service members, and wounded local law enforcement officers, whose caseworkers recommend that a service/assistance doge would benefit their therapy and recovery. Adoptions are free to qualified participants and include the adoption fee, spay/neuter, all vaccinations, a wellness check, a microchip and training.

The Warrior Buddies Military Family Adoption Program provides companion animals for military families. Those eligible for this program include immediate families of active-duty military personnel, active-duty and retired members of the military, and military veterans who have "Honorable Discharge" or "Under Honorable Conditions" status. Those qualifying for this program may adopt any homeless pet in the Prince William County Animal Shelter and receive a $20 discount off the adoption fee.

Both of these programs are available due to donations from a grateful community. See the PDF flier for more information.
