PRINCE WILLIAM COUNTY, VIRGINIA…Next month, the Prince William County Police Department, Criminal Justice Academy, and the Office of Public Safety Communications will host a team of assessors from the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies, Inc. (CALEA). These assessors will examine all aspects of the agency's operations, policies, and procedures.
The assessment team will verify the Department meets and maintains compliance with the accreditation standards, which are internationally recognized best practices established by CALEA.
As part of the assessment process, the public is invited to offer comments to the assessors on the services and performance as they relate to the Commission's standards. Comments may be provided as follows:
- Agency employees and community members are encouraged to offer comments on Monday, August 5th at 6:30 p.m. at the McCoart Administration Building, 1 County Complex Court, Board Chambers.
- If an individual will be unable to attend the in-person session, but wishes to make a comment, he or she may call the assessment team on Monday, August 5th, from 2:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. at 703-792-8160. Comments during the telephone session are limited to 10 minutes.
- Written comments may also be directed to: Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies, Inc. (CALEA), 13575 Heathcote Boulevard, Suite 320, Gainesville, VA 20155.
Upon completion of the on-site assessment, the team will report its findings to the Commission, which will then consider the Department for re-accreditation.
