Making Advance Payments for a Future Tax Bill

Prince William County accepts advance payments from individuals and businesses. Advance payments are held as a credit on your real estate, personal property or business tax account and applied to a future tax bill (when the tax rate and assessment are set or when you file your business tax return).

If you later change your mind, or the tax due is less than the advance payment, we will refund the credit balance upon request.

Advance payments can be made online at, by mail, or by visiting one of our walk-in locations. If sending a payment by mail, please be sure to include your account number and designate your payment as an advance payment or it may be returned to you. Multiples payments can be set up and scheduled for processing on any future date by using the online system.
