The Commercial Development Committee is comprised of 16 members including representatives from related industry organizations. The Director of Development Services acts as the Staff Liaison. Click here for the current Members Roster.
Since 1999, the Prince William County Commercial Development Committee has served as a public-private advisory group having the primary purpose on making recommendations on how the County can be more agile in the commercial development process.
Below is a brief history of the Committee:
December 4, 2012 – The Board of County Supervisors established the Economic Advisors Group to replace the Economic Development Alliance.
October 5, 2010 - The Board of County Supervisors received and reviewed the Economic Development Task Force recommendations, which included transforming the Economic Development Council into the Economic Development Alliance. The Board of County Supervisors, via Resolution 10-763, accepted the report of recommendations from the Economic Development Task Force and established the Economic Development Alliance.
July 2010 – The Prince William County and Greater Manassas and Prince William Regional Chamber of Commerce merged to form the Prince William Chamber of Commerce. The merger led to a restructuring of the Commercial Development Committee. The Prince William Chamber appoints two members to serve on the Committee, as opposed to two appointees from each Chamber.
December 1, 2009 – The Board of County Supervisors established the Economic Development Task Force (EDTF) to provide recommendations for a new public-private advisory group to replace the Economic Development Council.
March 16, 1999 - The Board of County Supervisors tasked the Economic Development Council to develop recommendations to improve the commercial development process. One of the recommendations was the establishment of the Commercial Development Committee.
