Potomac District Supervisor Maureen S. Caddigan said she "never, ever in a million years" expected that the Prince William County Library Board of Trustees would name the reading room at the Montclair Community Library after her.

"I'm both elated and I'm humbled that the trustees are the ones that have chosen that this beautiful reading room with the fireplace is being named in my honor. I'm very, very touched," Caddigan told a crowd gathered in the library's community room for the naming ceremony.

All of the people who spoke at the naming ceremony talked of Caddigan's contributions and perseverance in getting things done over the years.

Board of County Supervisor's Chairman Corey A. Stewart said that no one deserved such an honor more than Caddigan "There is no more fitting name for this room than the Maureen S. Caddigan Reading Room. There's nobody on our Board of Supervisors who has done more than you for this district… I just want to thank you, on behalf of the entire community and Board of County Supervisors," Stewart told Caddigan. "Thank you for everything that you have done for our community."

Library Board of Trustees Vice Chair Mary Jo Rigby thanked Caddigan for a "job well done" and said that Caddigan was a "leader, advocate, supporter and good person all around," as well as a good friend to the county's libraries. "I'm here this morning on behalf of the Library Board to join with you all in a well-deserved honor in this dedication," Rigby told the people gathered at the library. "Were it not for Maureen, it's highly likely that this building would never have come to fruition, and we all owe her a debt of gratitude for that."

Past Library Director, Dick Murphy, also commented on naming the room after Caddigan and said Caddigan "made things happen" on behalf of the residents of her district and the county. "This library would not exist today if she had not pushed to make it happen. How appropriate that today we name that reading room in her honor. It is richly deserved."

The Montclair Community is library is located on Waterway Drive in Montclair.
