Issues can arise in any neighborhood. Parking can be an issue. Cleaning up after pets, or not, might lead to disputes. Certain landscaping might lead to quarrels, and community engagement might not be as high as some would like.

On Saturday, Feb. 22, Prince William County’s Neighborhood Services Division will hold its annual Neighborhood Conference to shed some light on how to handle some of the tough subjects that arise in communities.
“The conference is a great opportunity for neighborhood residents and community groups to come together to network and share ideas about solving issues that impact their neighborhood,” said Cathy Holtzlander, the neighborhood services coordinator for the Prince William County Department of Public Works.
The conference, which will run between 8:30 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. at the county’s Development Services Building at 5 County Complex Court, will also include sessions on crime prevention and gang awareness, storm water solutions, understanding common property code violations and community volunteer engagement.
Holtzlander said people who attend the all-day conference – where a $25 registration fee covers the conference material, a continental breakfast, lunch, an afternoon snack and all-day coffee – will be able to network with others who may have dealt with some of the same issues they face. “The citizens gain a tremendous wealth of information and the opportunity to share that information between communities and address issues that may affect communities.”
Neighborhood Services works with residents and businesses to make sure that properties are safe, well-kept and sustainable.
