The Prince William County Department of Transportation is coordinating with the Virginia Department of Transportation and the Federal Highway Administration to prepare for an Environmental Assessment along the Route 28 Corridor.

The assessment will evaluate potential social, economic, and environmental effects associated with proposed transportation improvements in the corridor between Sudley Road in Prince William County and Compton Road in Fairfax County. Additionally, potential alternatives for extending Godwin Drive will be evaluated.

The assessment, which will be funded by the Northern Virginia Transportation Authority, will evaluate three alternatives established in December 2017.

The agencies will host two public meetings where people can comment and ask questions about the environmental studies, which are being conducted to complete the assessment under the National Environmental Policy Act.

The first of the meetings will be held between 6:30 p.m. and 8:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 5, at Loch Lomond Elementary School, which is located at 7900 Augusta Road in Manassas. The second meeting will be between 6:30 p.m. and 8:30 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 6, at the Sully District Governmental Center at 4900 Stonecroft Boulevard in Chantilly. The meetings will include a 10-minute presentation, which will begin at 7 p.m.

Residents and organizations will have the opportunity to give comments on the proposed project, and representatives from the agencies will be available to answer questions throughout each of the meetings.
