The Ruth E. Lloyd Information Center, or RELIC, is a special collection dedicated to genealogy and local history located at the Bull Run Regional Library at 8051 Ashton Avenue in Manassas. The trained staff at RELIC can help people trace their family history and research people, places and events associated with local and state history.

RELIC offers free special events throughout the year to help people explore history as a part of the library's services.

On Thursday, June 14, at 11 a.m., RELIC will host "Deciphering ATDNA Testing." Genealogist Shannon Combs-Bennett will show people how to understand ATDNA, or autosomal DNA, which tests inherited chromosomes for genetic genealogy. Combs-Bennett will show how to analyze ATDNA test results with online tools and case studies.

On Tuesday, June 26, at 7 p.m., "Researching Land Titles and the History of Your Home" will teach people how to use records available at RELIC to discover when their house was built and what was on the property before the house was built. People who attend can learn about who lived on their land before them. The chain of ownership could go back hundreds of years.

The programs last 60 to 90 minutes and are free. To register, call RELIC at 703-792-4540 or email relic2@pwcgov.org.

Visit RELIC for more information.
