Tales for Tots

Stories, songs, and fingerplays for toddlers, preschoolers and children entering Kindergarten.
Pick up a free pass at the Information Desk beginning at 10:00 a.m. the day of the program.
Each child entering the program must have a storytime pass, unless otherwise stated.
Limit 60 children.

August 19 Special Event:
Crafty Critters and Insect Exploration
Join us between 10:30 a.m. & 12:30 p.m. for a special bug extravaganza
with Karrie Cox of PWC Environmental Services Division. Create a
beautiful butterfly craft, and view a hands-on insect display. She is
bringing live bugs, including a Giant Madagascar Hissing Cockroach, to
the library. This ALL AGES program is in conjunction with Odds & Ends.

Odds & Ends

Storytimes and special programs for children entering grades 1 – 5.
Pick up a free pass at the Information Desk. Each child entering the program must
have a pass. Please check the special events (with descriptions) for specific registration
information. Limit 60 children, unless otherwise stated.

August 5 Special Event: Master Gardeners
Virginia Cooperative Extension – Prince William Master
Gardener volunteers will lead children in hands on, creative activities to
get you growing in the garden! Please pick up free tickets beginning July
29th. Each child attending must have a ticket.
Limit 30 children.

August 12 Storytime & Activity: What’s in a Game?

Alternating Mondays, 10:30 a.m. Registration, in person or by phone
begins one week prior to each program. Limit 10 per session

Starlight Craft Time

A parent or caregiver must accompany children.
Pick up a craft pass at the Information Desk for your child beginning at 6:30 p.m. the day of the program.
Only one (1) craft kit will be distributed per pass; the first 30 crafters will be admitted.

Special Programs
Beautiful Batik *
Fun for the whole family. Use your ingenuity to make a batik tee shirt!
Using die-cut designs we will dye shirts and Be Creative @ Your Library!
Tee shirts will be provided.
August 6 at 11:00 a.m.
For all ages.
Each child making a shirt must have a ticket. Limit 60 children.

Reptiles Alive: Snakes Alive! *
Uncover the secret life of snakes during this spectacular show. Myths
will be debunked and the truth revealed about these misunderstood
animals. After the show you can get up-close-and-personal with the star
of the show, and handle some reptile artifacts.
August 13 at 11:00 a.m.
For children entering grades 1 & up.
Each child attending must have a ticket; your ticket will also allow you to
participate in the “Meet & Greet”. Limit 100 children.

Ice Cream Social *
Join us at our last Totally Terrific Thursday for Summer Quest 2009! Use
your creativity to build yourself an ice cream sundae, then eat it with
your family and friends.
August 20 at 11:00 a.m.
For all ages. Limit 100.

Tween Zone
Have Blade, Will Travel
The ‘Tweens will join the Teens for a fencing demonstration.

For students entering grades 5–12.
Saturday, July 11 at 2:00 p.m.
Register in person or by phone beginning June 27th; the first 20 persons
registered will have a chance to participate in the demonstration. Limit 40.

Ductigami Creations *
You may use it to fix things, but would you think of producing useful
works of art with duct tape? Use your imagination and create a wallet,
beverage holder, tool belt and more!

For students entering grades 5–7.
Tuesday, July 28 at 2:00 p.m.
Register in person or by phone beginning July 14; each person
participating must be registered. Limit 24.
Geek Wear *
Reduce, reuse, recycle and reclaim computer parts to make original
necklaces, bracelets and key chains.
