Ticket, pass and registration policy: An individual may request no more than five tickets for any program.

Daycare and school groups are encouraged to call the Children’s Department to schedule a visit.

*Celebrate American Indian Heritage Month with Mama Mary Sunbeam


Celebrate American Indian Heritage Month at the Potomac Library. Join us for Cherokee drumming, songs, history and storytelling with Mama Mary Sunbeam. Mama Mary has a rich background in Native American history and customs, and this interactive program is designed to help families enjoy learning about, and participating in, Native American customs and stories.

Free tickets for this program will be available beginning November 7. Each person attending must have a ticket.

Bring your lunch to the library, and eat it while watching our holiday movie. We will provide beverages and a holiday treat for each movie attendee.

*Monthly Mind Bender Contest: Happy Thanksgiving!


November 1–30

For grades K - 5.

Pick up a mindbender contest form, and return the completed puzzle by 5:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 31 to enter our Mindbender's drawing. A winner drawn from the correct entries will win a $10.00 gift certificate.

Magic Carpet Time: Storytime for Pre-schoolers


Stories, songs and fingerplays especially for children ages 2–5 years old.

Bedtime Storytime


Get ready for bed and then leave home! Come to the library for a before-bed treat of stories, songs & fingerplays. PJs, nighttime blankies and stuffed animals are optional.

Please pick up a pass beginning at 7:00 p.m. A pass will be required for each child attending the program. Limit 30 children.

Crafts or activities for ages 4 and up. All children must be accompanied by an adult helper; younger siblings are welcome to attend, too.

*Book Babies: The Series Continues!


Babies need books, too! Stories, songs and play for infants and toddlers 6–24 months on alternating Mondays at 10:30 a.m. Sign up for the entire Fall series of programs.

Registration for this program is closed. If you are signed up for the series, we ask that you do not attend the individual Thursday sessions to give others the opportunity to attend.

Babies need books, too! Stories, songs and play for infants and toddlers 6 – 24 months.

Thursdays, November 5 & 19, December 3, 10:30 a.m.

Please register in person or by phone for these individual sessions, beginning one week prior to each program. Registration will be limited to 10 infants with a caregiver, per session. Those signed up for the Book Babies: the Series are asked not to sign up for individual sessions.

Activities and crafts for the entire family; all ages are welcome. Join us with your family to play some games, and make a project to take home.

*Puppetopia Presents:
Folk Animals


Join us in concluding our Open House with a puppet show for all ages. Puppetopia will present "Folk Animals" which will feature appearances from The Boy who Cried Wolf, The Gingerbread Man, Anansi the Spider, and The Three Billy Goats Gruff (and their nemesis,Troll!)

Please pick up free tickets beginning November 28. A ticket will be required for each person attending. A person may pick up no more than 5 tickets.

*Holiday Open House


Everyone is invited to the 2nd Annual Potomac Library Holiday Open House. This is our way to say "thank you" to the community for its support of our activities. Join us for music, refreshments,craft projects for our children and young adults, a scavenger hunt and trivia contest. A performance by Puppetopia, presenting the show "Folk Animals", will conclude the festivities. Take a few moments from your busy holiday activities to enjoy an afternoon of fun to kick off the season.

Drop in to the Open House any time between 12:00 noon and 2:00 p.m.; no registration or ticketing required for most activities. The puppet show does require tickets (see above.)
