ILLiad is our web-based system for Interlibrary Loan. ILLiad is an acronym for InterLibrary
Loan internet accessible
database.
Your username and password allow secure access to information about your
requests. It can also enable you to edit your personal information such as your
address or phone number. Your Username and password can be anything you like and
are case sensitive. We
recommend that you follow good security practice and choose a password that is different
from those you use to access other systems. However, no one but you will know
your password, not even the library staff. The password you set is stored in an
encrypted file.
Your library card number is required on the registration form in order to confirm
eligibility for Interlibrary Loan service. It is the 14 digit barcode number
located on your Prince William Public Library System card.
In the event that you forget your Username, contact the Interlibrary Loan
Office by email at
InterLibraryLoan@pwcgov.org or call (703)792-4984. We can tell you what your
Username is.

In the event that you forget your password, and the password hint does not
help, contact the Interlibrary Loan Office by email at
InterLibraryLoan@pwcgov.org
or call (703)792-4894. We can then reset your password allowing you access to ILLiad. Please
change your password once you logon to ILLiad.
You need a Web browser that can handle forms and tables. We recommend
either Netscape Navigator version 3.0 or greater or Microsoft Internet Explorer version
3.0 or greater. Both browsers are available for the Windows 3.x, Windows 95 or NT, and
Macintosh O/S operating systems. Netscape Navigator is available for UNIX.
There are computers available for your use in all Prince
William Public Library System locations. Should you need assistance, ask at the information desk.
Staff will be glad to assist you.
Yes. Web browsers cache information and create a history file on the local workstation.
This allows a subsequent user of the workstation to access the system under your name
using the browser's Back button to recall a page from the cache, or by finding a page with
your personal information in the browser's history file. If you are concerned about the
security of your interlibrary loan requests, you can take the following steps:
- Access ILLiad only from your personal computer or an otherwise secure workstation.
- When using a public access workstation, exit from the Web browser before you leave the workstation. This prevents the Back
button from accessing the pages you were using.
- To exit from the Web browser (from a
Prince William Public Library System public access workstation):
- Exit from ILLiad
- Press Control, Alt, Delete
- Click on Log Off
- You will be asked: Are you
sure you want to log off? Click on Yes.
This will return the screen to the Prince William Public Library
System homepage.

Why does my browser say
that you're sending a cookie? What's in it?
The Active Server Pages technology that we use to provide live reporting for the web
sends a Session ID to be stored on your machine. You can refuse this cookie and still be
able to use the ILL web pages and ILLiad without any problems.
Contact the Interlibrary Loan office by phone, (703)792-4894, or by email,
InterLibraryLoan@pwcgov.org.
Is
ILLiad a secure site? ILLiad is not
currently a secure site. It is behind a firewall, which
does not allow access without a User ID and password.
Passwords are encrypted,
they cannot be viewed or accessed by anyone, including Library staff.
