More than 25,000 recipes, primarily submitted from amateur home cooks, are available through All Recipes. The site can be searched by keyword or by using the 30 subject categories available.
 

This site features an easy-to-use, free hospital look-up tool that links to hospital Web sites and basic statistics.  Although this site also provide a for-fee service for subscribers, non-subscribers can find basic hospital information as well as data on the total numbers of beds, discharges, patient days, and gross patient revenue.

Background Notes
Factual publications about the land, people, history, government, political conditions, economy and foreign relations of the many countries and regions of the world prepared by the regional bureaus of the U.S. Department of State.

Cyndi’s List
A categorized index to more than 250,000 genealogical resources available on the Web, Cyndi’s List includes both a topical and an alphabetical list of categories of interest to new and seasoned genealogists.

Gate2Home is a multilingual keyboard emulator that gives users instant access to the keyboards of 65 languages.  Keyboards include all major East and South Asian languages, as well as Arabic, Greek, Hebrew, Roman, and Cyrillic key sets with various diacritics.  Originally designed for travelers, this Web tool is equally useful to language learners and immigrant populations.

Get Human
The Gethuman project is a consumer movement to improve the quality of phone support in the US.  The Gethuman 500 database provides tips on how users can bypass the automated phone systems of companies and organizations in order to speak with a person.

GPO Access
A service of the U.S. Government Printing Office, GPO Access provides access to important documents and information from the 3 branches of Government: legislative, executive, and judicial.

Hoover’s
Hoovers.com provides access to more than 12 million U.S. and non-U.S. companies, industries, and executives. Comprehensive industry and company information as well as market intelligence is available from this business leader.

How Stuff Works
HowStuffWorks is a source of credible, unbiased, and easy-to-understand explanations of how the world actually works. Founded by North Carolina State University Professor Marshall Brain in 1998, the site has grown to be an award-winning online resource for millions of people of all ages.

Internet Public Library
The Internet Public Library (IPL) evaluates, selects, and organizes web sites on a variety of topics for adults, teens and kids. The IPL helps users navigate the abundance of information on the Internet in order to find information they actually need and can use.

JiWire
The largest directory of public WiFi hotspots available, JiWire’s WiFi Hotspot Finder locates wireless Internet connetions in more than 119 countries. Each verified hotspot lists detailed information on access options plus maps and driving directions when available.

Kelley Blue Book
Kelley Blue Book is a trusted resource for new car prices, used car prices, blue book values, car reviews, and more.  Bluebook value is a price point determined to be the market value of a product.  Kelley Blue Book online is free and has guides on new and used cars extending back 20 years.

National Criminal Justice Reference Service
Summaries of more than 180,000 criminal justice publications and the NCJRS Virtual Library, which contains more than 7,000 full-text publications from various government agencies, are available through this site.  Free access to a wealth of information on justice and substance abuse information, including statistics, research findings, program descriptions, congressional hearing transcripts, and training materials on topics such as crime, law enforcement, corrections, courts, juvenile justice, victims of crime and the justice system are available.

North American Mammals
Detailed descriptions, distribution ranges and pictures for more than 400 North American mammal special are available.

Online Conversion
This site provides common conversions for almost anything you want to convert from one thing to another. Here you can make online conversions for many measurement systems. Conversion tables for both common (U.S., metric, weight, volume, cooking, etc.) and quite exotic units like Ancient Greek and Roman. You can also ask your questions and discuss how to convert units on the Units Conversion Forum. Start by choosing the conversion you need from the list provided.

PubMed
A database of over 15 million citations for articles published in more than 4,800 biomedical journal and magazines from the United States and 70 other countries, PubMed has coverage back to the 1950s and includes the fields of medicine, nursing, dentistry, veterinary medicine, the health care system, and preclinical sciences.  PubMed is maintained by the National Library of Medicine.

Recalls.gov
Recalls.gov is the most comprehensive one-stop resource for locating information about unsafe, hazardous, or defective products.  Information is provided about recalled consumer products, motor vehicles, boats, food, medicine, cosmetics, and environment products.

SeniorNavigator
SeniorNavigator provides free information about the health and aging resources available to Virginians. The information focuses on senior related issues such as health and aging, financial concerns, legal questions, health facilities, assisted living and housing, exercise programs, support groups and more.  Users can search by ZIP code to identify resources available in their local community.

Urban Legends Reference Pages
This searchable site collects and attempts to verify the truth about urban legends, rumors, common fallacies, old wives’ tales, strange news stories, hoaxes, and similar items.

USA.gov

With sections designed for students, parents, educators, and job seekers, this site provides information to Virginia residents about education and career opportunities.

This site is a listing, by farm product, of Virginia growers and processors who produce organic farm products, processed products made with certified organic ingredients, and organic livestock.  All processors are Certified Organic by the U.S. Department of Agriculture.
This Web site "helps you keep track of which famous people have died and which are still alive!".  Categories for actors, musical performers, political figures, athletes, and other groups can be found on the site along with an alpha key that lists all entries that begin with the letter you select.  Each person's birth and death dates are listed, along with additional information, if known.  Links to similar sites are also available.
 
WordReference.com features translation dictionaries for French, Italian, and Spanish.  Links to word definitions and synonyms, discussion forums where users offer human translation help, and links to Google searches for words or phrases used in context can be found on this site.

Zillow
Zillow allows users to see the value of millions of homes across the United States, not just those up for sale. In addition to giving value estimates of homes, it offers several unique features including value changes of each home in a given time frame (such as 1, 5, or 10 years), aerial views of homes, and prices of homes in the area. Where it can access appropriate data, it also provides basic information on a given home, such as square footage and the number of bedrooms and bathrooms. Users can also get current estimates of homes if there was a significant change made, such as a recently remodeled kitchen.
