Reads Book Club Meets on the fourth Monday of every month at 1:00 P.M.
Monday, March 15, 1:00 p.m.: Tribute
by Nora Roberts
|
If you've never read a romantic
suspense by Ms. Roberts or if she
is one of your favorite authors,
you'll want to read or revisit
this cast of carefully nuanced
characters playing out this cleverly
ordered plot. Get caught up in the
storyline as former child star, Cilla
McGowan, returns to Virginia's
Shenandoah Valley to restore her
deceased grandmother's neglected
farm and finally finds out if her
grandmother did indeed succumb
to suicide or meet with murder. As Cilla tears down walls and
finds the proverbial skeleton in the closet, this subtle suspense
and sexy romance builds into a novel of danger and desire.
Don't miss it.

African-American Book Discussion Group Meets on the second Thursday of every month (except for July and August) at 7:00 P.M.
Thursday, March 11, 7:00 P.M.: It
Happened in Church by Patti Webster
|
This lively collection of humorous stories and jokes reveals that church is not always serious business, and readers will find it entertaining. However, the collection is also thought-provoking, as each anecdote is followed by a serious reflection that readers can ponder. In the words of Milton Berle (as quoted in the book), “Laughter is an instant vacation." Join us for a little winter break and a lot of humor as this book is discussed by the group.

Third Thursday Thrillers Meets on the third Thursday of every month at 7:00 P.M.
Thursday, March 18, 7:00 P.M.: In
The Woods by Tana French
|
French's novel is a combination of a
police procedural and psychological
thriller. Detectives Rob Ryan and Cassie
Maddox land their first big murder
case when 12-year old Katy Devlin is
discovered murdered in a Dublin suburb.
Twenty years earlier three children
disappeared in the same woods. One
of the children was Rob Ryan, now a
detective, and when he was found by the
police, he was so scarred by the event
he could not tell them anything. With
the exception of his partner, Detective
Ryan has kept those events of the past
a secret. Now he must not only deal with his present case, but his
past. French's novel is both a well- written psychological thriller and
a portrait of contemporary Ireland. Please join us for a discussion of
this book. Refreshments will be provided.
