Volunteer with the Parent Education Program

volunteer 2.jpgThe Parent Education Program of Prince William Cooperative Extension has an opportunity for volunteers interested in strengthening families by teaching new parenting skills.  If you want to help others and improve your own skills, be a volunteer STEP Group Facilitator.

Virginia Cooperative Extension is accepting applications for the next training cycle for Volunteer Parent Educators. This unique opportunity provides training in the STEP (Systematic Training for Effective Parenting) curriculum and group facilitation skills.

In addition, as a volunteer, your own parenting skills will be enhanced. Candidates must first complete a six-week STEP class and then receive 7.5 hours of training in facilitation and leadership of groups. There is a $40 fee to cover the cost of training materials and a background check.  Before the facilitator training, the volunteer must commit to leading two (six week) parenting classes in the first two years of completing the training. Please call 703-792-4678 or e-mail for more information.
