PWC 4-H Annual Calendar
4-H events offer a variety of fun learning experiences for 4-H members throughout the year.
These planned events provide opportunities to learn new things, gain leadership skills and have fun with kids with similar interests.
4-H Embryology: "The Beginning of Life" Project:Offered each Spring. For the School Classroom or Club! "The 'Beginning of Life' 4-H project is designed to help youth obtain a better understanding of life and embryonic development. Visit the PWC 4-H Facebook page for Embryology. Please contact
Cindy Puryear, 4-H Program Manager, with any questions about training, eggs, hatching, incubators, thermometers, etc. or call 703-792-4780. We have many resources for the embryology project to share! A special thanks goes out to the Smith Family Farm for donating the eggs to us this year.
4-H Tree Seedlings: 4-H offers tree seedlings to youth educators for planting projects in the community each spring. Tree seedlings varieties are different each year. Tree seedlings are ordered based on pre-reservations. This program is timely for Earth Day celebrations and events.
4-H Junior Camp
Junior Camp is a five-day overnight camp for youth ages 9-13, held the third week of July at the Northern Virginia 4-H Educational Center in Front Royal, Virginia. Children participate in camp classes, recreation, swimming and campfires and have lots of fun! Extension agent staff, trained adults and teen counselors operate the camp.
4-H Fair Day Camp
4-H Fair Day Camp is held during the week of the annual County Fair, at the Prince William County Fairgrounds. Children ages 5-12 learn about agriculture in Virginia and enter projects in the fair. Fair Camp is filled for this year. All counselor positions have also been filled for 2012.
4-H State Congress
State Congress is held annually at Virginia Tech and is open to senior 4-H members. Participants choose either a competition, leadership or community service track. National award winners are selected to represent Virginia at National 4-H Congress. An event for currently enrolled 4-H members ages 14 and up.
4-H State Horse Show(for currently enrolled 4-H members)
This show is held in September at the Virginia Horse Center in Lexington, Virginia. Classes are offered in hunter, western, jumper, English pleasure, games, drill team competition, gaited classes, and a variety of other disciplines.
