The mission of the Prince William County Department of Social Services is to strengthen the social and economic well-being of Prince William County. We do this by helping families and individuals meet their basic needs and move toward self-sufficiency through employment and overall family economic success; by working with families and the community to protect children and vulnerable adults from abuse and neglect; by developing community-based programs and facilities that support juveniles in becoming accountable for their behavior; and by developing adequate resources through partnership with the community.
The Department of Social Services employs many dedicated professional with credentials in social work, counseling, employment and career planning, criminal justice and information technology. The Department provides County residents with a range of services and financial assistance and residential youth programs. The Department also provides County citizens with federally mandated services including Child and Adult Protective Services, SNAP (Food Stamps), Medicaid and Temporary Assistance to Needy Families. Janine Sewell is the Director of Social Services and can be reached at the Manassas Office.
