Residents can go to www.healthcare.gov, www.CuidadoDeSalud.gov or call 1-800-318-2596. The Commonwealth of Virginia will offer guidance through a website, www.coverva.org (effective October 1, 2013).
- Has Virginia expanded Medicaid eligibility to new eligible groups?
No, Virginia has not expanded Medicaid eligibility. Eligible groups remain the same in Virginia. To determine whether you may be eligible for Medicaid, please visit www.commonhelp.gov or call 1-855-242-8282 (effective October 1, 2013)
- How do I apply for Medicaid or FAMIS benefits?
Individuals can apply online via CommonHelp at www.commonhelp.gov. Individuals can also apply via mail, fax or in person. Most applicants who are ineligible for Medicaid or FAMIS will be sent to the Federal Health Insurance Marketplace. www.healthcare.gov. Effective October 1, 2013, you may call 1-855-242-8282 to apply for Medicaid by telephone. Please note this number is to apply for Medicaid and FAMIS benefits only. Individuals cannot apply for other public benefits through this call center.
- How can I apply for health insurance under the Affordable Care Act if I do not have employer health insurance or if I choose not to use employer health insurance?
