What Items are Not Accepted on My Cleanup Day?​

These items are not accepted at the neighborhood clean up day, but can be disposed at the landfill or the compost facility on designated days.  Please properly handle your

  • Antifreeze
  • Fuel drums
  • Fuel tanks
  • Bleaches, solvents, and other materials with warning labels regarding proper disposal
  • Motor oil
  • Paint, Paint Thinners
  • Pesticides
  • Pool chemicals
  • TV’s, Computers and Electronics
  • Appliances

Public Works offers a complete list of household hazardous waste items and electronics with tips for storage and disposal.  Remember these items require special handling and must not be mixed together since combining items could create additional dangers. 

We also encourage you to consider all the items destined for the dumpster.  Could they be used by someone else? Does the item still have useful life?  Be sure to donate or reuse items that still have value.  This saves natural resources and valuable space at our landfill.  Our goal is to extend the life of our landfill, so it can serve our community for years to come and ensure Prince William County has a place to put its garbage.
