Prince William County Animal Control
**September 5, 2017: The Animal Shelter is accepting applications for volunteers in the Shelter. We are specifically looking for volunteers to help with cleaning in the mornings every day of the week. We also are looking for a couple of volunteers -- very experienced in animal handling -- to assist our photographer during the week (she is usually here midday on Mondays, Wednesdays and Thursdays).**

** Fostering Volunteer Requirements **
The Animal Shelter’s Volunteer Foster Care Program provides temporary housing and care for canines, felines, and other animals that are not quite ready for adoption. Animals that need foster care include puppies and kittens under two months old, mothers with nursing litters, dogs and cats with medical conditions or injuries, and special-needs fosters.
Occasionally these animals in our care are live evidence in animal cruelty cases. In those cases, the foster volunteers could be subpoenaed as witnesses in court.
The typical foster stay is between two weeks and two months, depending on the needs of the individual animal(s). The timeframe of each foster situation will be discussed ahead of time.
Foster families provide housing and bedding for the animals in their care. They also provide exercise and socialization. The Shelter provides food, toys and medical care for animals in foster homes - including medications and vaccinations - and a cage if necessary.
If you are interested in being a foster volunteer, please contact the Shelter at 703-792-6465 for further instructions on the application process.
The address of the Animal Shelter is 14807 Bristow Road, Manassas, VA 20112.
