Safe Community Programs

Prince William County is a Certified Crime Prevention Community! A major factor in this designation is partnerships with citizens to continue making Prince William County a safe place to live and work. To that end the Police Department offers several programs including Neighborhood Watch, Business Watch, Worship Watch, Fleet Watch and Apartment Watch.

McGruff ButtonThe Neighborhood Watch program is designed to reduce crime and enhance the quality of life in your neighborhood. Neighbors commit to keeping their eyes and ears open as they go about their daily business or they can organize patrols to monitor their neighborhoods.

McGruff ButtonThe Apartment Watch program is similar to Neighborhood Watch except that the apartment complex management office coordinates the program and each building in the complex is responsible for its own watch.

McGruff ButtonThe Business Watch program which includes Fleet Watch Inn Watch and the Certified Crime Prevention Business Program teaches Prince William County business owners managers and employees how to combat crime such as bad check and credit-card fraud robbery and shoplifting as well as educates them on personal safety and workplace violence issues. McGruff ButtonThe Worship Watch program is similar to Neighborhood Watch except that it is designed for members of a church synagogue mosque or temple.

McGruff ButtonThe Fleet Watch program involves businesses and other organizations that have large fleets of vehicles equipped with some form of communication such as cell phones or radios. Police notify these businesses to have their drivers be alert if there is trouble.
