Records Section 

The Police Department Records Section is open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday except holidays. The Records Section provides information on traffic crashes offense reports and criminal record check procedures.
 
  • Copies of crash reports are available to involved parties guardians of juvenile involved parties property owners and injured parties at no cost. Insurance companies and attorneys are charged $3 for each crash report. (Only forms of payment are cash or credit/debit cards: American Express Discover Master Card and Visa.) This process may also be handled online using the Crash Report Repository System.
  • Copies of incident reports are not provided to the public. Victims can be provided with only a verification of the incident and/or loss at no cost. Insurance companies and attorneys are charged $4 for each verification. (Only forms of payment are cash or credit/debit cards: American Express Discover Master Card and Visa.)
  • A local Prince William County Criminal History Check can be performed for those who can prove their Prince William County residency and/or arrest. You must have two forms of proper identification one of which must be a photo ID showing your date of birth. The only acceptable forms of ID are a valid driver's license or a DMV-issued identification card a valid passport a valid Social Security card a valid birth certificate or a valid military ID. The fee for this service is $6 (Only forms of payment are cash or credit/debit cards: American Express Discover Master Card and Visa.) The record check may take as long as 72 hours to complete.
  • Driving records can only be obtained through the Virginia Division of Motor Vehicles (DMV).
