|Residential Burglary – On July 11 at 2:00PM, officers responded to a residence located in the 5200 block of Steidel Ln. in Woodbridge (22193) to investigate a burglary in progress. The homeowner reported to police that he was asleep in a downstairs bedroom when he was woken up by a noise. When he went to investigate, he observed an unknown male with a bandana covering his face, reaching through an open window attempting to unlock the door. The homeowner confronted the suspect and the suspect fled on foot. The homeowner observed a second male dressed similarly flee on foot as well. The homeowner further heard the engine of a vehicle start up and accelerate at a high rate of speed. A police K-9 searched for the suspects who were not located. The only description of the suspects were white or Hispanic males, one with a white hoodie and jeans and the other had a grey hoodie with a black hood and jeans. No property damage or injuries were reported. |
Strangulation | Domestic Assault & Battery | Reckless Handling – On July 11 at 11:14PM, officers responded to a residence located in the 5800 block of Anthony Dr. in Woodbridge (22193) to investigate a domestic with weapons. The victim, a 37-year-old female, reported to police that she was involved in a verbal altercation with a family member, identified as the accused. During the altercation, the accused grabbed the victim by the throat causing her to lose consciousness. The accused also fired a handgun multiple times inside the bedroom resulting in property damage only. After firing the handgun, the accused then retrieved a shotgun and told the occupants of the home to leave. The victim and the other occupants left the home and contacted police. As officers were arriving, they encountered the accused attempting to flee in a vehicle. A traffic stop was conducted, and the accused was taken into custody without further incident. Minor injuries were reported. Following the investigation, the accused, identified as Carlos Gerard HEWETT, was arrested.

Child Abuse Investigation – On July 5 at 10:30AM, detectives with the Special Victims Unit, in coordination with Child Protective Services, began an investigation into alleged child abuse at the Minnieland Academy located at 14910 Feeder Ln. in Woodbridge (22193). The investigation revealed that a teacher, identified as the accused, was caring for the victim, identified as a 4-year-old girl, when she threw the victim to the ground. The accused was then observed picking the victim up by her ankles and dropping her onto the ground, causing the child to strike her head. The accused was eventually removed from the classroom and the child's parents were notified. Minor injuries were reported. On July 12, following the investigation, the accused, identified as Syeda Sunnia ALI, was arrested.

Impersonating a Law Enforcement Officer [LEO] -- On July 11 at 8:24AM, officers on patrol observed a vehicle stopped near the intersection of Van Buren Rd. and Fettler Park Dr. in Dumfries (22025) with red and white flashing lights. Officers made contact with the driver, later identified as the accused, who was wearing a bullet proof vest, a gun belt and identified himself as a government contractor and then a volunteer firefighter. The investigation revealed the accused had stopped his vehicle and activated his lights to engage with a citizen. During an employment check, the accused was found not to be employed by a law enforcement or other government agency. Following the investigation, the accused, identified as Christopher SANTIAGO, was arrested.
