The Prince William County Comprehensive Plan contains a strategy for responsible, fiscally-sound growth to produce a vibrant, prosperous, stable, "livable" community. It contains recommendations for future land use, transportation systems, schools, parks, libraries, historic and environmental resources, and other resources, facilities, and services. It is implemented through Plan maps, the Capital Improvements Program, the subdivision ordinance, and the Zoning Ordinance and Map.
The County has embarked on an update to the Comprehensive Plan and on August 3, 2016, the Board of County Supervisors approved the
scope of work for the Comprehensive Plan Update. To start this effort the Planning Office hosted a Comprehensive Plan Update Workshop on Thursday, October 13, 2016.
The Planning Commission will periodically have work sessions covering different chapters of the update. Subsequent meetings and work sessions will be announced as they are scheduled and all meetings will be open to the public.
All of the materials presented at the public workshops and Planning commission work sessions are available below.
