The Board of Zoning Appeals (BZA) is composed of seven regular members and three alternate members who are County residents appointed to staggered five-year terms by the Circuit Court. Members must hold no other public office; however one may be a member of the Planning Commission. Members may be reappointed. The Board of County Supervisors may make appointment recommendations. The BZA reviews and decides
appeals of zoning determinations and requests for variances to zoning provisions. See also Section 900 of the Zoning Ordinance in the County Code.
The BZA meets when an application for an appeal or a request for a variance has been submitted. Meetings are held on the third Monday of each month May through December and on the fourth Monday of each month January through April.
BZA meetings are open to the public.
The next hearing is tentatively scheduled for September 19, 2016.
