Use of electric trolling motors at Silver Lake Park is permitted on a case-by-case basis for individuals with disabilities who cannot manual row or paddle their watercraft. Patrons who wish to utilize electric motors must obtain approval to do so through the Park Ranger Division of the Prince William County Department of Parks & Recreation. At the time of application, patrons are asked to provide documentation of the need for accommodation in the form of either: a) a photograph, copy, facsimile or other reproduction of a DMV-issued Disabled Parking Placard or License Plate; or b) a letter from a health care provider, including that provider's contact information, attesting to the applicant's need. An applicant's specific disability need not be disclosed.

Receipt of a Silver Lake Special Park Use Electric Motor Permit constitutes approval of your application and confirms your permission to use an electric trolling motor at Silver Lake. Any patron utilizing an electric motor on Silver Lake must display the permit by affixing it to the review mirror or placing it visibly on the dashboard of their vehicle. If the user does not leave a vehicle in the lot, they must keep the permit on their person at all times.
