These lessons are specialized for individuals (children/adults) with disabilities who cannot, or prefer not be mainstreamed. Skills are adapted to meet participants' needs and levels of function.
For your convenience, we offer early afternoon swim lessons for a homeschool-specific schedule. Levels and descriptions are the same as listed below.
AGES 6 months - 3 years
Child & Parent classes are designed to cover Levels 1 & 2. Parents are taught to safely work with their child in the water and how to encourage their child to participate fully and try the skills. Children are introduced to basic skills to help them learn to swim in the future. Several water safety topics are introduced.
Note: Children who are not potty trained are required to wear swim diapers.
Orients children to the aquatic environment and builds on basic aquatic skills as they progress through the preschool aquatics program. Skills taught include blowing bubbles, submerging mouth, nose & eyes, opening eyes under water and retrieving underwater objects, as well as front and back floats with assistance.
Children build upon the skills learned in Preschool 1 to gain more comfort & independence. Skills taught include learning to float on back without support, opening eyes underwater, retrieving submerged objects, and alternating arm and leg actions on the front and back. Most skills in this level are performed with assistance.
Helps children start to gain basic swimming propulsive skills, fully submerging face while holding breath and bobbing up and down, combined arm and leg actions on front and back. Skills in this level are performed independently.
Helps participants feel comfortable in the water. Elementary aquatic skills taught include blowing bubbles, submerging mouth, nose and eyes, opening eyes under water, retrieving underwater objects, front and back floats with assistance and combined arm and leg actions on the front and back.
Gives participants success with fundamental skills including floating on front and back independently, combined arm and leg actions on the front and back, submerging face while holding breath, bobbing up and down, retrieving underwater objects and rolling over front to back and back to front.
Builds on the skills taught in Level 2 through additional guided practice. Building on fundamentals of treading water, front crawl, elementary backstroke, flutter, scissors, dolphin and breaststroke kicks.
To develop confidence in the strokes learned thus far. Skills include swimming front crawl and elementary backstroke for greater distances, building upon scissors and dolphin kick, adding arms for sidestroke and butterfly, backstroke and breaststroke are introduced and participants learn to tread water for 2 minutes.
To coordinate and refine all the swimming strokes (front crawl, backstroke, butterfly, breaststroke) as well as swimming longer distances. Flip turns for front and back are introduced along with treading water for 5 minutes.
To refine strokes so students swim with more ease, efficiency, power and smoothness over greater distances. Menu options focus on preparing participants for more advanced aquatic activities. All options include a 500 yard continuous swim.
This class enables children and teens in competitive swimming or those already involved with a swim team to focus on improving their stroke technique in freestyle, backstroke, breaststroke, butterfly as well as starts and turns. Individuals must be able to swim 25 yards continuously prior to registration.
Skills covered are approach, take-off and forward dive. Level 4 or equivalent swim skills are required. Participants must be able to follow directions without assistance.

BUTTERFLY & BREASTSTROKE CLINIC
Stroke improvement and preparation for High School Swim Teams. Prerequisites include the ability to swim 15 yards of both the butterfly and breaststroke with breathing technique. Class emphasizes refining the strokes to increase efficiency and distance. Starts and turns are also covered.
FREESTYLE & BACKSTROKE CLINIC
Stroke improvement and preparation for High School Swim Teams. Prerequisites include the ability to swim 25 yards of freestyle (front crawl) with side breathing and backstroke. Class emphasizes refining freestyle and backstrokes using drills to increase stroke proficiency. Starts and turns are also covered.
This class is designed for teens and adults with a fear of water. Our experienced staff will help you to feel more comfortable in and around the swimming pool while moving at your own pace.
Participants will gain basic aquatic skills and swimming strokes. More importantly, skills and concepts needed to stay safe in and around water are covered.

Participants will refine front crawl, back crawl, breaststroke, turns and build endurance. Interested individuals must be able to swim the following strokes: front crawl 25 yards, back crawl 25 yards and breaststroke 15 yards.
