FITNESS & WELLNESS OVERVIEW

Our recreation centers provide a variety of choices for all ages of Prince William County residents at a reduced cost. Various centers offer package deals on classes. For more information about our newest offerings, sign up for our e-mail list, ParkInfo!

​Some fitness classes fall into our Progressive Class category, meaning admission to these temporary, specialty classes is not included in membership benefits. View Progressive Fitness Classes here under our Class Registration page. Open Fitness classes are drop-in and first-come, first-serve. Call the centers for more details.

CYCLING

Imagine a vigorous workout, burning calories AND keeping your muscles in shape-- perfect during off-season training, when muscles can become weak. You control the resistance, you adjust to your abilities, all while engaging your imagination and going on an outdoor adventure! Classes emphasize strength, intensity and endurance. Burn anywhere from 400 - 1000 calories in a session, depending on gender, weight!

DANCE

No experience required! Learn ballroom, tap, jazz, ballet, Latin dance, and technique development classes at varying levels for ALL AGES. We cover introductory basics as well as offering challenging courses for those with a dance background. These classes require registration.

GRAVITY®

Gravity® Strength Training is a fun, innovative program that provides full-body conditioning through resistance training and Pilates movements. In using one's own bodyweight as resistance, participants effectively improve well-being through our 15-min Blast Class, Gravity® 101, Cycling Gravity®, or Gravity® Pilates.

SBDCRC Personal Training

 

 

We offer one-on-one training, "buddy" and small group training and even sessions for sports teams! Programs are designed specifically to match goals, individual strengths and interests. PWC Parks & Recreation personal training staff are certified through nationally recognized and accredited agencies and seasoned in physical expertise. Free orientations teaching exercise equipment use are available to passholders. Call one of our participating centers to set up an information session or to speak to a fitness specialist!

PILATES

Pilates works the body in fluid motions as a total unit, encompassing proper physical alignment, while improving bodily awareness, spinal alignment, strength, flexibility and neuromuscular control.

  • REFORMER APPARATUS: Up for a different pilates experience? Try machine work, only at Sharron Baucom Dale City Recreation Center! By using an incline machine, instructors show students how to achieve maximum resistance benefits and ease other joint issues in the process. Our level I & II classes focus on the pilates traditional approach with 4-in-1 exercise system using Allegro Reformer, Tower of Power, mats and stations.

  • SPECIALTY PILATES: Whether you want to maintain your flexibility and strength during pregnancy* or post-rehab training, our carefully formulated program guides participants through a series of controlled exercises for optimal wellness.

  • MAT: Standard pilates classes available at both Chinn & SBDCRC.

TRX®

YOGA

Yoga has been practiced for more than 5,000 years and has yet to go out of style - for good reason! Benefits include increase in flexibility, balance and strength. Participants have a chance to quiet their minds from the busy day with breathing exercises and develop a cognitive connection to the body's movement. Classes vary from pure relaxation to aqua, prenatal, and couples yoga. ​If you are up for a challenge and a change, give it a try!

Join the hottest fitness dance party in the nation! Zumba is a total body workout using simple Latin dance movements that anyone can learn to do! Class sizes range - and it's often a very social experience! At a typical Zumba class, you will find yourself doing the cha-cha, salsa, rumba and other international dances. No dance experience necessary for this cardio party!
