to the Literacy Volunteers of America—Prince William
The next Tutor Training Workshop is
May 23 (8:45 a.m.-4:00 p.m.) and
June 6 (9:00 a.m.-12 noon).
Attendance both days is required.  
Previous experience is not necessary.  We will train you to become a certified adult literacy tutor! There is a one-time fee of $35.00 to cover materials.

Literacy Volunters of AmericaLiteracy Volunteers of America—Prince William, Inc. (LVA–PW) is a non-profit organization that offers free adult literacy tutoring, and much more, for adults. The mission of LVA–PW is to teach adults to read and write, or to read, write and communicate effectively in the English language in order to acquire the basic literacy skills to become self-sufficient, to better provide for themselves and their families, and to more actively participate in the community.
LVA–PW provides free basic literacy, English as a Second Language, computer and workplace literacy, Pre-GED and GED tutoring, and ESOL/Civic tutoring services to the community. In addition, LVA–PW offers writing improvement assistance for students wanting to pass the Northern Virginia Community College's COMPASS writing entrance exam, beginning and intermediate reading classes at the Virginia Employment Commission Workforce Center, and a GED class at the Cooperative Council of Ministries' drop-in center. LVA–PW volunteers also conduct English conversation classes at the Chinn Park Regional Library and Potomac Community Library.
