Prince William Public Library
Gainesville Neighborhood Library

The Gainesville Neighborhood Library is now closed permanently. However, the book drop will remain open temporarily for the convenience of our patrons. All holds and Interlibrary Loans (ILL) may be picked up at Bull Run Library until the Haymarket Gainesville Library opens.

We thank all of our volunteers who made this little branch all that it could be. We also thank all of our patrons for committing your time, love for books and family moments with us. In essence, we thank all of our volunteers, patrons and voters that helped make our new Haymarket Gainesville Community Library a possibility, and bid farewell to one of our neighborhood libraries (opened May 16, 1987).

About Gainesville Neighborhood Library
The fifth neighborhood library opened was named for the Gainesville voting magisterial district. It officially opened to the public on May 16, 1987. Located in James Long Park, this 2,073 square foot facility boasts a collection of 22,000 items including books, DVDs, Books-on-CD,  Playaways, and Magazines for all ages and interests. The collection does fluctuate now that the library system has floating collections.

Gainesville Library is staffed with one full-time, three part-time staff members, and over 40 community volunteers and is one of the busiest neighborhood libraries. There is a local Friends group for the Gainesville Library that helps strengthen ties between the library and the community. They provide funds to enhance library services through book sales.

Gainesville has the distinction of providing electricity to a nearby ozone/carbon monoxide monitoring station for the entire county. Several garden spots are maintained by the Haymarket Garden Club.

Two Internet stations are available to the public as well as public faxing and photocopying. A self-check out machine is available for express service. There is a book drop available 24 hours a day.

Branch Facilities:
Computers: 2 public-access computers, with internet stations and Microsoft Office.
Wireless:  At this time we do not have wireless service.
