On Thursday, October 24th at 2:23 a.m., fire and rescue units were dispatched to a structure fire in a single family home located in the 6000 block of Plainville Lane in Dale City.
The first-arriving units observed heavy smoke billowing from the front door. Upon entering a second floor bedroom, firefighters discovered occupants fighting the fire with a garden hose. Firefighters evacuated the occupants and suppressed the fire containing it to the bedroom.
One occupant was transported to a local hospital for non-life threatening injuries.
Red Cross was called to the scene to assist the displaced residents as a result of the fire.
A Building official was called to the scene to assess the structural damage and posted the home as unsafe.
The preliminary damage estimate is $20,000.00.
The fire is currently under investigation by the Fire Marshal’s Office.
