Buckle-Up for Love Baby has Arrived
Prince William County’s first Buckle-up for Love Baby was born this morning at 5:55 a.m. at Sentara Northern Virginia Medical Center.  Robert and Ashley Carpio of Woodbridge, VA, are the proud parents of Clint Riley Carpio weighing in at 5 pounds 6 ounces. “It’s been a long night”, said Robert as he was told of his families good fortune of winning a new car seat from the Prince William  County Department of Fire & Rescue (
Motor vehicle crashes kill more children each year than any other cause, but the correct use of child safety seats and safety belts can save the lives and pr event the injuries of a large majority of children in crashes. One of the most common misuses of a car seat is the incorrect selection of the seat for the child. Because Clint should be rear facing through age 2, the Carpio family opted for a convertible rear-facing/forward-facing car seat that can hold infants such as Clint from 5 pounds up to 40 pounds rear-facing and then be turned around for use when he is older. The Carpios currently have an infant seat/travel system they will use and will use his new seat when they move him to a different vehicle.
To ensure our newest Prince William County residents start off their life’s journey safely, the Department of Fire & Rescue presented the first child born on February 14th at Sentara Northern Virginia Medical Center a new car seat.  “Buckle up your kids, yourself, and Buckle Up For Love today and every day,” states, Chief Kevin McGee of the Prince William County Department of Fire & Rescue.  “Please join the Department to help us inform others of just how easy it is to protect the ones you love.”
Is your family riding safe?  Come find out on Saturday, February 23, 2013, the Department in conjunction with the Lake Jackson Volunteer Fire Department will hold a child seat education and inspection at 11310 Coles Drive in Manassas, VA, 1:00 p.m. - 3:00 p.m.
