The Virginia Uniform Statewide Building Code provides an administrative process to appeal the final decision of a local Building Official. The owner of a structure, the owner's agent, or any other person involved in the design, construction, or maintenance of the structure may appeal the Building Official’s/Building Maintenance Official’s decision concerning application of the Virginia Uniform Statewide Building Code and the Virginia Amusement Device Regulations (VADR) or refusal to grant modification to the provisions of the USBC covering the manner of construction or materials to be used in the erection, alteration, repair, or maintenance of that structure.

State Technical Review BoardAfter final determination by the Prince William County Board of Building Code Appeals, any person who was a party to the appeal may appeal to the State Technical Review Board. Application shall be made to the State Technical Review Board within 21 calendar days of receipt of the decision to be appealed. Failure to submit an application for appeal within the time limit established by this section shall constitute an acceptance of the Prince William County Board of Building Code Appeals resolution or Official's decision.
