The Emergency Services Division is at the center of Community Services (CS) service delivery system. The division consists of two components, Crisis Intervention Services and Intake Services.
The Mission of the Emergency Services Crisis Intervention Program is to respond on a 24-hour basis to the members of our community while providing comprehensive and respectful intervention to those experiencing a crisis related to mental health, substance abuse and/or intellectual disabilities. We work collaboratively with citizens, their families and community agencies in a way that supports self-determination to the greatest extent possible, while also maintaining the safety of the individual and the community.
Crisis Intervention Services are available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. both scheduled and walk-in services are available at the Manassas and Woodbridge offices from 8 a.m. until 9 p.m. Monday through Thursday; and Friday from 8 a.m. until 5 p.m. Emergency Services staff are in the community and available after these hours, on weekends and holidays and can be accessed by calling our main number: 703-792-7800 in Manassas or 703-792-4900 in Woodbridge.
The following services are offered: crisis intervention, emergency evaluations to determine the need for inpatient psychiatric admission or substance abuse detoxification, and short-term out-patient treatment. Staff members also advise magistrates regarding the need for temporary involuntary inpatient treatment and can provide testimony at civil commitment hearings and make arrangements for further hospitalization and treatment.
Intake Services are provided primarily over the phone and are available in the Woodbridge and Manassas offices from 8 a.m. until 8 p.m. Monday through Thursday, and Friday from 8 a.m. until
5 p.m. Intake staff gather information from callers in order to identify service needs and then work collaboratively to ensure that the most appropriate services are provided. When service needs are best served by a Community Services program and if caller is eligible for our services, an initial appointment for one of our outpatient programs is offered. If caller’s need is best served outside of Community Services, a referral to another program is made.
