Team Member of the Month - January 2013
Lieutenant William Bradley
Lieutenant William Bradley was chosen as the Fire and Rescue Department's Team Member of the Month for January 2013 for demonstrating extreme self-motivation, zeal, and perseverance which ultimately led to the arrest of a dangerous criminal.
On Saturday, January 5, Lieutenant Bradley responded to a disturbance at a single-family dwelling. After investigating, it was revealed that a fire was maliciously and intentionally set in the closet of the occupied single-family dwelling by an acquaintance of the current residents. The residents could not provide a positive identification of the suspect but were able to give a vague description and a nickname. Later that evening, the same suspect returned to the residence provoking another altercation. When Lieutenant Bradley and the police arrived, Lieutenant Bradley pursued the suspect but was unable to detain him. Recognizing the danger this individual posed to the community, Lieutenant Bradley began to systematically investigate the case and pursued leads to positively identify the suspect so a felony warrant for his arrest could be obtained.
After identifying the most probable suspect, a photo line-up was arranged with the witnesses and the suspect was positively identified. Lieutenant Bradley immediately obtained a felony arrest warrant and the suspect was apprehended a few days later by County Police. He chose to personally hand-deliver the witness subpoenas so that he could reiterate the importance of their attendance and participation during the hearing. While delivering the witness subpoenas, he obtained information regarding the suspect's involvement in a recent larceny from an ABC store in Manassas City. Lieutenant Bradley collected the relevant information, notified Manassas City Police allowing them to identify the suspect as the person responsible for the larceny.
Lieutenant Bradley pursued every lead relentlessly while collaborating with our colleagues in law enforcement. His actions exemplify the County and Department's visions and values. Thank you for your hard work and dedication.
