Stephens Street Fire Incident
March 13, 2013
On March 13th, at approximately 11:44 a.m. fire and rescue units were dispatched to a structure fire in a single-family home located in the 14500 block of Stephens Street in Nokesville.
First arriving units observed smoke billowing from the front door and inquired if the home was occupied; they were informed the residents were currently at work.
Firefighters searched the home and discovered fire in the basement and proceeded to attack and extinguish the fire. Firefighters searched for extension. No further extension was found.
No injuries reported.
According to the Fire Marshal’s Office, estimated damage is $50,000.
The origin of the fire was the basement. The cause is under investigation.
Red Cross assistance was not requested; family is currently staying with friends.
