Sligo Loop Fire Incident
August 16, 2012
On Thursday, August 16
, at approximately 4:30 a.m., fire and rescue units were dispatched to a town house fire located in the 17300 block of Sligo Loop in Dumfries.
Upon arrival on the scene, fire and rescue crews observed fire involving two townhouse units and impinging another a third unit.
Firefighters had the fire under control in approximately 20 minutes extinguished; however, they were on scene for several more hours to complete the operation.
There were no civilian injuries; however, one firefighter was transported to a local hospital for minor injuries.
Two town homes sustained significant damage that displaced 9 residents. Red Cross provided assistance.
The fire is currently under investigation by the Fire Marshal’s Office.
