Piney Avenue Fire Incident
October 10, 2012
On Tuesday, October 9th, at 3:38 p.m., fire and rescue units were dispatched to a structure fire in a single-family home located in the 8400 block of Piney Avenue in the Lake Jackson area of Manassas.
Upon arrival, fire and rescue units encountered heavy fire and smoke conditions showing from all sides including the basement of the home.
Units proceeded to attack, suppress and extinguish the fire.
Prior to the fire department’s arrival, the residents had safely evacuated the home.
No injuries were reported.
Three adults and two children were displaced.
The Red Cross assisted the displaced family.
County Police assisted with on scene management.
Preliminary damage is estimated at $20,000.00.
The origin and cause of the fire are currently under investigation by the Fire Marshal’s Office.
