Pilgrims Inn Drive Fire Incident

On Sunday, March 17, at 9:39 p.m., fire and rescue units were dispatched to a structure fire in a townhouse located in the 13000 block of Pilgrims Inn Drive in Dale City. 
 
Upon arriving on the scene, fire and rescue units observed smoke showing from the front of the two-story single-family dwelling.  Firefighters reported the residents had safely evacuated the home and located a working fire in the basement of the home.  Firefighters proceeded to attack and extinguish the fire.  They conducted a search for extension; no further extension was found.
 
No injuries were reported.
 
County Police assisted with on scene management.
 
Red Cross assisted seven adults and one infant displaced by the fire.
 
The preliminary damage estimate is $10,000.00.
 
A representative from the Building Official’s office posted the structure unsafe due to the damaged water lines and electrical wiring.   
 
The origin of the fire was the basement.  The cause is currently under investigation by the Fire Marshal’s Office.
