Battalion Chief Jeffre

Technician II Paul R. Racco
both with the Department of Fire & Rescue and Donald C. Margraf
a Development Project Manager with Development Services’ Land Development Division, were selected as Prince William County Government’s Employees of the Month for February 2014.
Late last year an elderly, reclusive client of the Agency on Aging needed help to have a vacant building demolished so her property could be consolidated by the end of the year.
A private business was found to demolish the building at no cost, but the structure presented significant fire, safety, and hazardous materials problems that were considered “deal breakers” for the demolition company, due to the added expense.
Agency on Aging staff reached out to other County government agencies for assistance. Jeffrey inspected the site, treating the client with exemplary respect and patience, and spent extra time explaining how the process could be safely executed. On the day of demolition, Paul spent hours in cold windy weather ensuring that the water he directed hit only the target areas and not the client’s nearby home. Once demolition was complete, Donald – who was assigned to this client – expedited everything about the application’s consolidation process so that it would meet the Dec. 31 deadline, including helping to correct a critical error made by another person.
Working together, they all did the right thing for this client on short notice at a busy time of year. All set an excellent example of the County’s Vision and Values.
For this, they truly deserve the Employee of the Month Award for February 2014.
