Notes Drive Fire Incident
For Release
April 25, 2013
On Thursday, April 25, at 3:45 a.m., fire and rescue units were dispatched to a fire alarm activation at a recycling facility in the 7900 block of Notes Drive off of Balls Ford Road in Manassas.

First-arriving units discovered a working fire in one of the processing units.  It took approximately one hour to control the fire since debris had to be separated and relocated to completely extinguish the fire.  Limited access to interior portions of the processing equipment created additional challenges for fire suppression personnel.

Units were committed to the scene for approximately three hours to complete extinguishment and overhaul.  Two fire sprinkler heads activated and assisted with controlling the fire.

A fire investigator from the Fire Marshal’s Office classified the cause of the fire as accidental attributed to material being ignited due to heat generated by mechanical components on the processing equipment.

The preliminary fire loss estimate is $100,000.00.

No injuries were reported.
