Cherry Hill Road Fire Incident
January 28, 2013
On Friday, January 25
at 9:25 p.m., fire and rescue units responded to the 2000 block of Cherry Hill Road in Dumfries for a reported structure fire.
First-arriving units encountered heavy fire conditions in a one-story, single-family dwelling.
The residents heard their smoke alarm sounding, proceeded to investigate, and observed a developing fire in the living room ceiling near the fireplace.
They immediately evacuated the residence and called 911.
No injuries were reported and damage is estimated at $150,000.00.
Two adults and two juveniles were displaced; they are currently staying with family members.
The County Police assisted with scene management.
The cause of this fire is currently under investigation by fire investigators from the County’s Fire Marshal’s Office.
