The Honorable Pete Candland
Pete Candland was elected to represent the citizens of the Gainesville District on the Prince William Board of County Supervisors in 2011 and took office on Jan. 1, 2012.
Supervisor Candland was born in the Washington, D.C. area, moving to western Prince William County in 2001 with his wife, Robyn, who is a former 5th grade school teacher. They have been married since 1997 and have four children. The Candland family is active in local sports organizations like VSA and the neighborhood swim team.
Supervisor Candland has spent his career in the business sector, working for several technology companies both domestic and international. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Business Marketing from Brigham Young University and an MBA from Marymount University. Shortly after college, he gained experience running a small family-owned business, where he learned crucial lessons about the intersection of government and business. Today, Supervisor Candland is a senior strategist for an international Fortune 500 technology company. He specializes in contract negotiations and product strategy.
Before being elected, Supervisor Candland had a long record of leadership in the Prince William County community. He served as President of the Parks at Piedmont HOA for five years, overseeing many of the operations in a community of over 700 homes. In 2008, he began his service on Supervisor John Stirrup’s Budget Committee, where he gained valuable insight into the inner workings of county government and the budget process. Additionally, Supervisor Candland is a member of the Sons of the American Revolution; and he and Robyn are active in their local church.
In his spare time, Supervisor Candland enjoys golfing, playing basketball and tennis, and is a certified Virginia High School Basketball Official.
