We offer no-cost classes on home ownership and basic personal finance. Our regularly scheduled classes are described below.
 
Smart Money Management - Learn the basics of financial management principles and improve your money management skills in this one hour class. Topics include goal setting; how to determine your financial health by measuring your cash flow, net worth and debt load; credit and debt; and record keeping.  this class prepares you for the financial assessment.
 
Home Ownership Seminar - Become informed before purchasing your home. This six hour seminar details the home buying process, from pre-purchase considerations such as budgeting, credit, real estate agents and types of mortgages, to the purchase process and closing the deal and on to your responsibilities as a home owner.  for the all day class, there are two short breaks during the day and a lunch break. You may bring your lunch with you. The Virginia Housing and Development Authority (VHDA) certificate is issued to participants completing the class.
 
To Attend a Class
  • Review the Annual Schedule of Financial Classes and select the class at a location convenient to you
  • Obtain directions here, or call 703-792-5800. Or request directions by e-mail at SmartMoney@pwcgov.org
  • Arrive 15 minutes early to register for the class and obtain class materials
  • Seating is limited to the first 25 arrivals

To Receive a Certificate

  • Participants completing the entire Home Ownership Seminar will receive the VHDA certificate at the end of class
  • PWC Office of Housing and City of Manassas Home Ownership Program applicants must complete the Home Ownership Seminar, Smart Money Management and the Financial Assessment. A Certificate of Completion will be issued at the latest, in the first week of the month after all requirements have been met
  • For other agency or community program referrals who need verification of attendance, please bring a letter or form from your referring agency to the Instructor for his/her signature
