Financial and Housing Education and Counseling Services Offered:

Consider our classes and counseling if...fin ed counselor

  • You want to buy a home.
  • You want to learn more about managing your money effectively.
  • You have no savings, regardless of how much money you make.
  • You anticipate a major life change - buying home, marriage, baby, retirement.
  • You are considering a home equity or consolidation loan to pay debts.
  • You are obtaining cash advances on your credit card.
  • You are having trouble making your mortgage or rent payments.

We provide education and confidential counseling to help families and individuals manage their personal finances and prepare for major life events. Our staff and trained volunteers can help you develop a budget, use a spending plan, and learn about credit, home ownership, and other topics. 

If you are behind on your rent or mortgage payments, counselors will help you work with your lender or landlord. We also provide senior home owners with Home Equity Conversion Loan (Reverse Mortgage) counseling. We are a certified HUD approved counseling agency. For a full list of certified agencies, visit www.HUD.gov.

We do NOT provide money, quick fixes, investment services, legal or marital advice, or cash. We do not sell or endorse any products or services. Meetings with Cooperative Extension are never reported to credit bureaus. We have an established policy of confidentiality.

Volunteer Opportunities - If you want to help others and learn more about personal finances, become a volunteer Personal Finance Educator. You will be trained to educate and counsel people who want help with basic personal financial management. Training is offered twice a year and requires a year long commitment and availability on Thursday nights.
