Department of Social Services  




 
 

The Department of Social Services employs more than 300 employees - approximately 10 percent of the County's workforce - who have professional credentials in social work, employment and career planning, criminal justice, and information technology. The Department provides County residents with a range of services, including employment and support, child welfare, and adult and residential youth programs. The Department also provides County citizens with mandated services, including Child and Adult Protective Services, Food Stamps, Medicaid and Temporary Assistance to Needy Families.

Mission

To strengthen the social and economic well-being of Prince William County by helping families and individuals meet their basic needs and move toward self-sufficiency through employment and overall family economic success; by working with families and the community to protect children and vulnerable adults from abuse and neglect; by developing community-based programs and facilities that support juveniles in becoming accountable for their behavior; and by developing adequate resources through partnership with the community.
